TIGERS top HEELS in Championship Thriller
In what was one of the best Championship games in recent history, the HEELS gave the TIGERS all they could handle, and then some, before suffering a tough 2 point loss. The HEELS came out on fire, with B-Mc leading the way (19 on the night), dropping in the 3's early and often. The TIGERS, with their scoring leader absent, turned to the veteran as David Norman stepped up big, on both sides of the ball, to keep it close. Down at the half, The TIGERS showed why they were the preseason fav's to win it all. W.W. refused to let the ball out of his hands too long, as his team high 16 led a slow and steady comeback. The HEELS proved they were no joke pushing the game to it's final limits. Coack K faught all game long with the lead going back and forth. A late game surge and a missed HEELS basket put the ball in the TIGERS hands with only seconds remaining with the game tied. The HEELS, as they always do, had plans to use their fouls, fouling W.W. when he got the ball, but the TIGERS had other plans. Andy "The German Nightmare" unexpectadly got the ball at the top of the key, curling around a screen to the opposite elbow, and jumped so high, that not even the tallest HEEL could touch him. NOTHING BUT NET. BAM! It was one of the prettiest buckets ever. The HEELS had one last chance off the in bounds, but a bobbled in pass by the coach forced a pass to B-Mc for the tie, but it was no good. TIGERS WIN! Congrats to both teams on an awesome game, and to the TIGERS on their win. The TNT MVP went to David Norman for his work on both sides of the ball.

The Finals are set
In the first semifinal game, the TIGERS came out firing on the HUSKIES. The HUSKIES showed they weren't going to just sit there as they looked to counter punch anything the TIGERS threw at them. The TIGERS showed quickly their strategy as Weyling "wow he did that" White looked to do it all early. His partner in crime, Stormin Norman also came out firing, showing off for the family in the stands, dropping in 18 on the night. The first few minutes were close, but as HUSKIES coach Gens could not find the range, the TIGERS quickly turned the boards into transition baskets. With a 17 point half time deficit, Unofficial coach Reco Miller attempted to bring order to the HUSKIES bench, but it would soon prove to be too little too late. Sean "lefty" Easter led the last ditch effort for the HUSKIES with 17, but scoring phenom Dez Gaines coming off the bench for the TIGERS, dropping in 16, helped put the nail in the coffin as the TIGERS punched their ticket to Thursday night. Tigers by 18. Nice Job both teams, on a tough season.
Game 2 almost gave us the rags to riches story of the year. Yes, my BOBCATS lost, but we showed that last week was no fluke, going toe to toe with the HEELS. The HEELS steadily held a lead throughout most of the game, as neither the the 3's or the free throws would fall for the BOBCATS. B-Mac led the way for the HEELS with 25 on the night, as no BOBCATS player could stop him. The HEELS, with no subs attempted to slow the game all night, as expected, but it only took a matter of time for BOBCATS guard D-Money Thompson to run the ball, and penetrate their zone, leaving his team-mates open for layups. Too bad some of them JUST WOULDN'T FALL. Down 5 at the half, the BOBCATS looked to keep the running up, but a missed 4 on 2 lay-up ended up being a 6 point swing in favor of the HEELS. The BOBCATS again showed their resilience, shaving off those 6pts to bring it within one point. After Jarred, "I can dunk but can't make a free throw" Weeks missed the what would have put the HEELS up by 3 free throw, the BOBCATS had one last shot. Mastermind Coach Durst drew up the same game winning play he used last week against the WILDCATS, but the HEELS had other plans. Actually, they just had fouls to give. Every time a B-Cat would get close to the basket, the hacks came, the shoves came, it was an all out embarrassing display of obvious flagrant intentional fouls to milk the clock (NO, I'm not bitter at all!) With under 5 seconds left, a desperation back door cut attempt to avoid the foul failed, turning the ball over. The HEELS showed that they can play with only 5 players, as long as Coach K is there to run the show. Congrats (I guess) on the win HEELS.
Championship game is Thursday @ 8pm. Come out and support what should be a good game.

Playoffs, Round 1
Who would have thought, the BUCKEYES lose, and the BOBCATS win, all in the same night. As is every year, the playoffs bring us some crazy games....
Game 1 showed that the mighty BUX were mortal. After a good first half, 12 point half time lead slowly dissolved as turnovers turned into HEELS baskets, allowing them back in the game. The BUX finally put their first points of the second half on the board 6 minutes in. Both teams went back and forth, but the slow pace of the game put on by HEELS coach J.K. proved to be the better game plan. Slow calculated shots, along with the BUX being forced to foul over the limit at the end, proved to be the difference as the HEELS inched away to win by 8. NICE JOB HEELS.
Game 2 gave us no surprise (sorry Scottie), as the HUSKIES returned to their old fashion with the return of coach Gens, and some players coming off the IR. The much faster HUSKIES pushed the ball all night, spreading the scoring out on the EAGLES. The EAGLES attempted to slow the game down, keeping it close with only a 3 point deficit at half, where both teams combined for a whopping 35 points. In the second half, EAGLES scoring stars "MadMan" Mungo, and Robert "BIG MAN" Dalley attempted to take over, but it was no match for the HUSKIES who ran the floor all night with the return of formerly injured starts Kojo, and Sean "lefty" Easter, who each dropped in 10. The HUSKIES eventually pulled away to win by 13.
Game 3 gave us the blur of red vs orange. Despite the lack of contrast on the court, The TIGERS were their norm opening up the game with Stormin Norman scoring the first 10 pts. The BULLS had no answer as The Shooter Sprouse could not find hot streak he so desperately needed to keep the BULLS close. J.P. did what he could for the BULLS, dropping in 16, but it was no match for the the EL TIGRES. W.W. and Norman led the way, with some extra help from Dez "I can show up with 15 minutes left in the game and still score 13" Gaines. Tigers by 21.
Game 4 showed us the beauty of everyone making the playoffs. The BOBCATS, yes, I said the BOBCATS did what they do best, spreading the scoring out, and getting the other team into foul trouble, as they look to take down the first place WILDCATS. The BOBCATS slowed the game down, knowing they could not run with the W's. Smart inside shots, and big 3's on the kick outs kept the BOBCATS in it all night, as commonly made baskets seemed to not fall for the WILDCATS. Tyler "MVP" Bathrick showed he is still unstoppable down low, eating up the boards, and killing the B's down low. The BOBCATS showed great resilience though. Some strategic timeouts by their future hall of fame coach killed the W's momentum. Down 3 late in the game, the B's were forced to foul, but missed free throws gave the B's a late chance. With only seconds remaining, The BOBCATS waited for the right shot (or was it), as Tate Hamilton drove to the basket, pulling up from the free throw line. Basket no good, but wait. Down one point, Tate went to the line for free throw, as the MVP not only fouled, but injured himself doing it. With the 1 for 2 free throw, it was win or lose on one shot with no time remaining...............NOTHING BUT NET.
REMEMBER THAT SEMI FINALS ARE NEXT "TUESDAY", THE 11TH.

One week to go!
Please excuse the shortness of this weeks blog. I am busy getting my costume ready for trick or treatin'
The BOBCATS gave the TIGERS all they could handle in game 1. Not really. The TIGERS looked to be in Playoff form, getting ready for a seaon finale showdown with the BUX, to secure the number 1 seed. The highlight of the night, unfortunately, came when teammates went for the same ball, leaving "The German Nightmare's" elbow cut due to Stormin Norman hitting him in the arm with his head. NOT a good idea. The move also left Norman walking off with a cut eye. Team physicians are reporting that all MRI's are negative, and that a few days on IR should have W.N. back in time for the TIGERS to make that championship run. TIGERS by 22.
With the EAGLES fueling momentum off that defeat of the TIGERS last week, they looked to continue their run through the second half of the EASTERN conference, taking on the MIGHTY BUX. The Glazier-less BUX did all they could to fend off the smart play of the EAGLES, taking advantage of the EAGLES not having their big man. Darrell Bagwell had 15, including one 3, to lead the BUX, who dropped in a last second bucket to take a one point lead with 6 seconds left. A desperation push was made, but a long 3 came up short for the EAGLES, leaving coach Jones' pride battered and bruised due to the loss from his friendly foe coach Moll. Lookout for the EAGLES to make a run in the playoffs, post their inevitable loss to the BOBCATS (they can't finish win-less), with a possible second round matchup slated against what could be the TIGERS or BUX again.
The HUSKIES did all they could to hang with the WILDCATS, but too many absences on the HUSKIES bench, left them sucking wind, as the CATS ran the ball all night. Jade "lay-ups" Templeton took up the slack for Kobe Ledbetter (who could not find the range in the first half), dropping in 19 for the game which co-led the game in scoring along with team mate J Richie Rich. In the end, interim coach RECO, (I spelled in right!) did all he could with 5 3-pointers, but it wasn't enough. WILDCATS by 11
The Matinee match gave us another upset (but some predicted it) as the BULLS played some of their best ball all year, taking down the again sub-less HEELS. The late arrival of HEELS star Lightning Bolt Richmond gave the guys in blue momentary hope, but with no subs, and some great calls by the guys in stripes, 44 minutes was too much. HEELS big man Jarred Weeks showed he could do more than dunk, dropping in 2 3's to help lead his team with 12, but 16 from both J.P, and Joe "the Shooter" Sprouse led the BULLS. The HEELS kept it close for much of the game, but eventually lost wind, and lost by 9.

Week 8 wrap up
Conference play is back, as teams look to make preparations for their playoff run. Look out for the ever improving BOBCATS.
Speaking of the BOBCATS....Well, let's just say they are looking better. With the play of Coach Durst improving (he dropped in 14) they are starting to come together as a team (kind of). They were still no match for the mighty BUCKEYES who again showed they don't need the 3 to win. Did I mention Durst dropped in a game high 14. It would have been more if he could shoot a free throw. If the BOBCATS could get a sub, they might could hang longer with the ever subbing BUX. Anyways, Durst finished the night with a game high 14. BUX by a few more than they needed to be.
Game 2 gave us the upset of the regular season as Coach Jones had his soaring EAGLES ready to ball against the undefeated TIGERS. With the absence of the TIGERS big man, Robert "BIG MAN" Daley looked to take advantage down low, dropping in 10. Leading the EAGLES was Mad Man Mungo with 20. The EAGLES slowed the game all night, and frustrated the TIGERS on D. The TIGERS, who could not find the downtown range on the big court, only had 3 players who scored on the evening, and this night, it just wasn't enough. The Eagles played smart keep away, taking and making smart shots, and eventually sealed the deal to win by 7. Congrats on knocking off the numero uno TIGERS.
Game 3 showed us the HEELS of old, as Jarred "I will dunk and step on you" Weeks showed his presence down low, not only dropping in 14, but playing tough defense also. Just as the HUSKIES' Reico "pull it from anywhere" Miller found the range on the deep ball (24 pts on the night), HEELS' stud Shae "Lightning Bolt" Richmond answered back with his on 3's (16 pts on the night). In the end, the HEELS, who ran the ball all night long and converted more fast breaks and 3's, pulled away to win by 13. Despite the loss, congrats go out to HUSKIES coach Jonathan Gensemer on the birth of a new baby.
Game 4.....Well, not much of a game. Let's just say the WILDCATS came out on the BULLS like the BOBCATS came out on.....okay, bad analogy. Anyways, the WILDCATS were in top form, as a host of players put up big numbers. Wes, excuse me, KOBE Ledbetter could not miss, dropping in 31 on the night to lead the WILDCATS. The BULLS played tough, and both teams kept things positive despite the disparity. NO, I'm not going to tell you the score. You have to stay around for the late games to find these things out. Let's just say the BULLS have played better in the past, and well, I'm not sure the WILDCATS have.

Games next week at the school. OCT 16th @ WCCS
In the opening match, The HEELS, (who brought a sub for a change), looked to come out an run against the TIGERS. The TIGERS, missing a few stars, simply went to their other stars, as the elder Norman looked to pick up the slack for the absent nephew. David N pounded the ball down low, dropping in 21 points to go along with the lights out shooting of Desmond “the drain” Gaines, who took it easy on the HEELS, only making 6 3-pointers, to lead the TIGERS. The HEELS looked to answer down low as Jarred “I’m not gonna try to dunk this week” Weeks dropped in 16 of his own, as well as a usual 21 from Byron BMac Mcottry kept the HEELS close, but it was not enough as the striped cats held on to win by 8.
In a match up for the coveted 6th place slot, the EAGLES look to take advantage of a Joe less BULLS. The EAGLES looked to spread the scoring out, but quickly found that keeping the ball out of a diving Coach Jones’ hands, and instead giving it to the Mad Man Mungo would pay off. Ealey dropped in 18 to lead the EAGLES, who successfully did not foul away the lead, Some tough shots by Russ “Rusty” Berard kept the BULLS close throughout, but it wasn’t enough in the end. The EAGLES held on to beat the BULLS by 6. The BULLS will undoubtedly be speaking with Sprouse’s agent this week to figure out if he can get away from the NBA preseason to stay with the BULLS for a few more weeks.
In game 3, a new ROAR record was set. (At least, I think so). For the first time I know of, the winning team proved you did not need to make a 3 to win (maybe they just couldn’t). Either way, 2 pointers rained for the BUCKEYES as Glazier, C Mob, and The Lessmeister, all dropped in 10 plus with 2 pointers. The return of the HUSKIES' 9 fingered star Shawn “Lefty” Easter proved to be inspirational, but not enough to win. Reico “pull it from anywhere” Miller did what he could to keep the HUSKIES close scoring 12, but an off night for the grey dogs left them chasing the Mighty BUX, eventually drifting away by 10.
In the matinee match. The BOB's looked to upset the WILD's in the battle of the CATS. The BOBCATS came out a fire, as RC dropped in 3 quick from downtown (24 on the night), hands in his face and all. (I thought without Tyler that we would go down low). Also stepping up for the BOBCATS was Keith "lights out" Lewis, taking the often sluggish looking WILDCATS (I have to get my cheapshot in somewhere) to the hole, throwing up everything. Lewis finished with 21 on the night. The BOBCATS looked to play the upset role taking a lead into half time for the 3rd game in row (a team record), but the WILDCATS never quit. An 8-0 run midway in the 2nd half sparked by a couple 3's from the Wiley bro's helped the CATS in navy blue take over. The WILDCATS were led by J Rich and Marvin "Lockdown" Locke, scoring 16 and 14 respectively, who eventually pulled away, and won by 14.
Remember...Games next week are @ WCCS. (.2 miles behind the BP on India Hook at Celanese, going towards the Lake.)

Week 6 Wrap Up
Week 6 Started off with a BANG!
In Game 1, a game that had Championship feel, that bang was delivered by the HUSKIES, knocking the TIGERS down early, leaving them down 22 points, and 2 men down to double tech's and fouling out. Some hustle on the boards, and downtown shooting from JJ, Justin Jones led the HUSKIES early. Midway through the first half looked like a bad night to come, as Weyling "yes, he did that" White accounted for all of the TIGERS 4 points. After the TIGERS "accidentally" knocked out the HUSKIES' big man, they began to show us the TIGERS team that are favored to compete for the championship, as Andy "The German Nightmare" Laible started to make his presence felt, playing the inside out game with WW, as they combined for 31 points. Reico "pull it from anywhere" Miller tried to stop the comeback, but it was not enough to hold off the TIGERS, who got great supporting play from David Norman, and Jeremy "the other JJ" Johnson. In the end, the TIGERS completed the comeback as WW sealed it on the line. TIGERS by 7.
Game 2 dealt us another bang as the underdog EAGLES looked to pull of an upset against the 2 weeks in a row sub less HEELS. Some well balanced scoring for the EAGLES made the difference as 6 of their 8 players put up numbers, led by Ealey "Mad Man" Mungo (22 pts) from the perimeter, and Robert "Big Man" Dalley (12 pts), who was able to take advantage of the HEELS not having anybody over 5'6". (That's a joke Byron and Chris). Chris "Boards" East was a beast down low for the HEELS dropping in layup after layup, (20 pts in all), keeping the HEELS close. In a second half dominated by....FOULS, Shae "lightning bolt" Richmond did all he could to push the HEELS over the top, but in the end, some great coaching from the bench reminding his team NOT TO FOUL helped the EAGLES seal the deal. EAGLES by 4.
Game 3 gave us battles on and off the court, as a close, low scoring first half was dominated by defense, and more technical fouls. All 8 of the BUCKEYES players registered a basket, as Mike "who really wants to be a Bobcat (did you see his shorts?)" Glazier looked to be the only one who wanted to score. Maybe he was just keeping the ball to himself. The feuding WILDCATS went toe to toe with the mighty BUX, and carried a one point lead into the half as Tyler "MVP" Bathrick and Wes "Kobe" Ledbetter led the scoring for the CATS in the first half. After the WILDCATS coach T-Wylie found out that Northwestern was tied with South Pointe at halftime, he was able to relax, regroup his team, and get them focused on playing ball. In what continued to be a low scoring game, the BUCKEYES shifted their offense to their big men, (Darrell and Brad), who combined for 15 (19 on the night). The WILDCATS went with the running option taking either the fast break lay up or the kickout 3. Rob "The Crippler" Crippen and "Lay-ups" Templeton (who shot a 3 for once) led the way for the CATS in the 2nd half, as they outscored the BUX by 9 in the second half. CATS by 10 in the end.
The Matinee match gave us the battle for the heavily coveted 7th place in the league. The BULLS looked to spread their scoring around getting some easy baskets from Russ "Rusty" Berard, as well as their usual scoring duo of Joe and Jonathon. The BOBCATS actually took a lead into half time (only by 2) as their big men, Robert "RC" Cook and Chandler "C-Mac" McArthur took advantage of the BULLS not having their big guy. Even number 2 (I won't mention his name) dropped in a basket for the BOBCATS in the first half. In the second half, Dusty "D-Money" Thompson came alive for the B-Cats, keeping them close with the BULLS, who took the lead on a "sneaky" 3 by Justin "handles" Huddleston. After the BULLS took the lead, they looked to run time off the clock, using up their fouls, and forcing the BOBCATS into one final out of bounds play with only seconds remaining. Could it be? Another Laitner buzzer beater to crown the 7th place after week 6 champs? RC made the move of a lifetime (actually it was just an average move) down low to spin and get a layup off, but a missed no call (YES-I am defending my team on this one) left the BOBCATS with no basket, no win, no 7th place title, and again, no marks in the W column. BULLS by 1.

Week 5 wrap up. 5 weeks down, 5 to go. Lookout for the BOBCATS making a second half surge!
In Game 1, Joe "Shooter" Sprouse again led a valiant effort for the BULLS, with 20, including 5 Three pointers, but it was no match for Mike "smooth as glass" Glazier, who went off! Filling in for the absent Brad Lessmeister, Mike stole the shooting 11 for a lot more....scoring 23 points to lead the BUCKEYES. BUX over the BULLS by 13.
Game 2 started off close, with Tyler "MVP" Bathrick leading the way for the vocal WILDCATS. It looked to be a good night for the WILDCATS matching up well with the TIGERS, that is, until Weyling "wow did he just do that" White came in the game. Weyling blew up dropping in 25 to lead the TIGERS, only to be complemented by a combined 36 from the Norman boys. Nard Wylie did his best to keep it close for the WILDCATS, but in the end, the TIGERS pulled away....TIGERS by 13.
Game 3 gave us history right before our eyes matching up the BOBCATS against the perennial powerhouse HEELS. NO, the BOBCATS did not win, (I know that's what you were all thinking), but they did only lose by single digits. (We won't tell anyone that the HEELS started with 4 players and finished with no subs-no one needs to know that bit of useless info). HEELS by 8.
Game 4 gave us some events to remember, on and off the court. First of all, the EAGLES looked good, hanging with the favored HUSKIES. (Maybe coach Jones should schedule more meetings during his game times). Scottie "2 Hottie" Morgan's outside shooting and Robert "Big Man" Dalley's inside presence gave all the HUSKIES they could handle in the first half. That was until HUSKIES player Shaun "lefty" Easter showed us the craziest thing ever as he threw a bounce pass to himself off the glass, only to get his finger hung on the rim as he dunked over 3 of the EAGLES players, severing his finger in a grotesque sight to all. (Actually, he broke his knuckle on a simple play in the post that I didn't even see. I did his hand though.....OUCH.) In a true show of strength, Easter used a very sterile paper towel from the bathroom to wrap the finger, and drove himself to the hospital. In the end, the HUSKIES pulled away, HUSKIES by 20.

Week 4 wrap up
In the Game of the Year, The BUCKEYES and HEELS gave us a preview of a possible championship showdown (if the BOBCATS knock off the TIGERS). Chris "Boards" East hit the boards strong in the first half for the HEELS pouring in 14 in the first half. The BUX spread out the scoring with 8 different players scoring in the 1st half. The 2nd half was all about the guards. Mike "smooth as glass" Glazier led the charge for the BUX with double digits in the second half, getting to the line to practice some free throw shooting (obviously needs a lil more). The HEELS put everything they had into a comeback, led by Byron "Big Game" McCottry, who single handily brought his team back with 16 points in the 2nd half alone, but in the end, the HEELS were forced to foul Brad "Big Man" Lessmeister, who obviously didn't get his free throw lessons from his teammates. The HEELS had one last look to tie, but coach K's 3 came up short. BUX by 3!
Game 2 started off tight (before the Wildcats actually arrived). The EAGLES' Scottie "2 hottie" Morgan came out shooting, keeping the game close, with 10 in the first half. Wiley's WILDCATS eventually stretched the lead, pouring it on in the 2nd half with a parade of scoring from Wes "Kobe" Ledbetter (that name is self appointed), Marvin "Lockdown" Locke, and Jade "I finally decided to get up off the bench" Templeton leading the way, as the WILDCATS slid by the EAGLES by ......25...ish.
Game 3 Almost dealt us the upset of the century, as the heavily favored TIGERS came out sluggish against the BULLS. Some tough moves by Johnny Phillips helped the BULLS put up a few points against the TIGERS, as the sensation Dez Gaines was 0 for whatever in the first half. Joe "the Shooter" Sprouse dropped in his usual 16 to give the BULLS the lead late in the game, but in the end the BULLS were over matched as Weyling "WOW, did he just do that" White took over, and helped the TIGERS claw back, eventually winning by 4.
In the Matinee match, the BOBCATS went tic for tac with the HUSKIES, that is, after the HUSKIES gave them self a 20 pt cushion. Dang! The return of BOBCATS star Josh "I had class" Peay gave them hope, but a tough night of one and done shooting proved to be fatal, as the HUSKIES spread the scoring out with 9 of 10 players dropping in multiple baskets. League officials are still trying to figure out how the points in the book equal up to 69 tallied on the board. Can you say..conspiracy? What, did some unknown player score 10 unrecorded.

Week 3 wrap Up
Week 3 dealt some heart breakers as some win less teams hoped to put one in the "W" column, but things don't always go as planned...
Game 1 was supposed to be the "game to watch", but the BUCKEYES, who must have thought they were playing the BOBCATS again, were no match for "Stormin Norman's" 20 points that led the TIGERS to a 16 point victory. Chad "Mo Money" Mobley led the way with 15 for the BUX, who are still arguing whether their guards or their big men should be shooting the ball.
In Game 2, the BOBCATS looked to run early on the much bigger and slower number 22 of EAGLES, spreading the scoring out with all 9 BOBCATS putting points on the board. The EAGLES, led by ONE, yes one 3, and a key block from Brian I refuse to run Jones, and 13 points in the paint from Robert "Big Man" Dalley, held off a late game charge from the BOBCATS and eventually pulled away to win by 5. After the game, both coaches were asked to report to the league commissioner's office on Monday, as rumors of referee betting scandals started to emerge.
Game 3 dealt another win less team a heart breaker as the BULLS tried to get off the skid against the hot left hand of Shaun Easter and his HUSKIES. BULLS coach Doug Jones attempted to spark his team with some vocal leadership (sometimes directed at the ref), but it too often fell on def ears as the HUSKIES led by some tough boards from Kojo "KC" Cobb and Jason "Stackhouse" Stockunas won easily by 23. After the game, BULLS coach Jones said that his team is looking forward their upcoming East Coast road trip.
The Matinee match gave us what game 2 failed to, as the game of the week. Tempers flared and bodies hit the floor as the HEELS looked to pull off an upset on the road against Wiley's WILDCATS. The HEELS came out shooting as Coach Kemelgor showed his personal confidence firing from downtown early and often. Some good inside out play from She' "lighting bolt" Richmond and Jarred change my name to "make the dunk" Meeks kept the HEELS close. In the end though, 12 pts from the often unmarked Jade "layups" Templeton and some key shooting off the bench from Nard Wylie helped the WILDCATS secure a 5 point victory.
Teams hit the road this week to begin inter league play in a 4 week stand before coming home to conference rematches.

TNT week 2 wrap up.
2 Down, 6 to Go!
In game 1, Derek's prediction came true (of course), with one of the teams leaving with a 500 record. Who would it be????? Joe "the Shooter" Sprouse led another valiant effort for the BULLS with 12, (who were missing their inside presence), but in the end, were no match for the much bigger HEELS led by Jarred "I want to dunk so bad I miss it" Weeks with 16 (should have been 18-had he not moved the rim out the way).
Game 2 pitted the underdog BOBCATS, with future hall of fame coach Durst, against the perennial powerhouse TIGERS. The BOBCATS again fought hard with 15 pts from "RC" Robert Cook and tough defense from Sammy "smooth hands" Patrick, but in the end, were no match for the much faster, much bigger, much over stacked, much etc...etc...etc...TIGERS with strong contributions from Stormin Norman and Weyling White, as well as their usual scoring duo.
Game 3 gave us what could be a possible late round playoff showdown between the HUSKIES and WILDCATS. The Genz-less HUSKIES, led by some heavy 3 point shooting from Reco "pull it from anywhere" Miller, and Shaun "Lefty" Easter, both who scored in double digits, kept it close for most of the game, but fell short in the end to the WILDCATS led by the often unmarked Wes "Yellow" Ledbetter with a team high 20. Marvin "Lockdown" Locke and Jerry "Richi Rich" also scored in double digits for the WILDCATS who eventually pulled away and won by 12. The rematch of these 2 teams will undoubtedly by the game to watch in week 7. (Other than the return of BOBCATS star Coach Durst who will single handily shut down all of the TIGERS scorers)
The Matinee match showed that Coach Jones still had it in him as his lone 3 pointer and 3 blocks along with some sweet shooting from Scottie "2hottie" Morgan which kept the EAGLES close in the first half , but in the end, were no match for the over coached BUCKEYES led by 16 pts from Mike "smooth as glass" Glazier and 12 pts from Dave "Grunt work" Guffey.

TNT Week 1 wrap up
Week 1, and a long Labor Day weekend, are in the books, and for some teams, well, I bet they wish they had a longer Labor Day to get over some of the pain. The pain of a tough first game.
In game 1, The HUSKIES showed that they could share the scoring load with 3 players in double digits in a close but not so close game against the HEELS. She' "lightning bolt" Richmond led a strong effort for the HEELS with 12, but fell short 7 in the end. After the game, Coach Genz said "his team found success by keeping the ball out of his hands."
In game 2, B Jones' EAGLES, led my Ealey "Mad Man" Mungo's 18 pts, were no match for the 44 pts, including a league record 12 3's, dropped in by the TIGERS' Desmond "the Drain" Gaines. To add insult to injury, The TIGERS proved they just might be the team to beat with 18 more from Andy "the German Nightmare" Laible.
Game 3 left alot to be desired, from the BULLS that is. The BULLS kept it close, but in the end, they were no match for Wiley's Wildcats led by Jade "all I shoot is lay ups" Templeton, and Tyler "MVP" Bathrick.
In the redeye match, The BOBCATS looked to run on the much bigger BUCKEYES, with 9 from both Dusty "D-Money" Thompson and Keith "Lights Out" Lewis, but in the end, were no match for coach Moll's work horses. Brad "Big Man" Lessmeister and Darrell "Bangin down Lo" Bagwell both scored in double digits to lead the BUX over the BOBCATS in a game that was controlled on the boards.
Some teams have some work to do. Others, I'm sure, enjoyed a relaxing 3 day weekend.
