Playoffs, Round 1

Who would have thought, the BUCKEYES lose, and the BOBCATS win, all in the same night. As is every year, the playoffs bring us some crazy games....

Game 1 showed that the mighty BUX were mortal. After a good first half, 12 point half time lead slowly dissolved as turnovers turned into HEELS baskets, allowing them back in the game. The BUX finally put their first points of the second half on the board 6 minutes in. Both teams went back and forth, but the slow pace of the game put on by HEELS coach J.K. proved to be the better game plan. Slow calculated shots, along with the BUX being forced to foul over the limit at the end, proved to be the difference as the HEELS inched away to win by 8. NICE JOB HEELS.

Game 2 gave us no surprise (sorry Scottie), as the HUSKIES returned to their old fashion with the return of coach Gens, and some players coming off the IR. The much faster HUSKIES pushed the ball all night, spreading the scoring out on the EAGLES. The EAGLES attempted to slow the game down, keeping it close with only a 3 point deficit at half, where both teams combined for a whopping 35 points. In the second half, EAGLES scoring stars "MadMan" Mungo, and Robert "BIG MAN" Dalley attempted to take over, but it was no match for the HUSKIES who ran the floor all night with the return of formerly injured starts Kojo, and Sean "lefty" Easter, who each dropped in 10. The HUSKIES eventually pulled away to win by 13.

Game 3 gave us the blur of red vs orange. Despite the lack of contrast on the court, The TIGERS were their norm opening up the game with Stormin Norman scoring the first 10 pts. The BULLS had no answer as The Shooter Sprouse could not find hot streak he so desperately needed to keep the BULLS close. J.P. did what he could for the BULLS, dropping in 16, but it was no match for the the EL TIGRES. W.W. and Norman led the way, with some extra help from Dez "I can show up with 15 minutes left in the game and still score 13" Gaines. Tigers by 21.

Game 4 showed us the beauty of everyone making the playoffs. The BOBCATS, yes, I said the BOBCATS did what they do best, spreading the scoring out, and getting the other team into foul trouble, as they look to take down the first place WILDCATS. The BOBCATS slowed the game down, knowing they could not run with the W's. Smart inside shots, and big 3's on the kick outs kept the BOBCATS in it all night, as commonly made baskets seemed to not fall for the WILDCATS. Tyler "MVP" Bathrick showed he is still unstoppable down low, eating up the boards, and killing the B's down low. The BOBCATS showed great resilience though. Some strategic timeouts by their future hall of fame coach killed the W's momentum. Down 3 late in the game, the B's were forced to foul, but missed free throws gave the B's a late chance. With only seconds remaining, The BOBCATS waited for the right shot (or was it), as Tate Hamilton drove to the basket, pulling up from the free throw line. Basket no good, but wait. Down one point, Tate went to the line for free throw, as the MVP not only fouled, but injured himself doing it. With the 1 for 2 free throw, it was win or lose on one shot with no time remaining...............NOTHING BUT NET.

REMEMBER THAT SEMI FINALS ARE NEXT "TUESDAY", THE 11TH.
TIGERS play the HUSKIES at 8
HEELS play the BOBCATS at 9
