2 Down, 6 to Go!
In game 1, Derek's prediction came true (of course), with one of the teams leaving with a 500 record. Who would it be????? Joe "the Shooter" Sprouse led another valiant effort for the BULLS with 12, (who were missing their inside presence), but in the end, were no match for the much bigger HEELS led by Jarred "I want to dunk so bad I miss it" Weeks with 16 (should have been 18-had he not moved the rim out the way).
Game 2 pitted the underdog BOBCATS, with future hall of fame coach Durst, against the perennial powerhouse TIGERS. The BOBCATS again fought hard with 15 pts from "RC" Robert Cook and tough defense from Sammy "smooth hands" Patrick, but in the end, were no match for the much faster, much bigger, much over stacked, much etc...etc...etc...TIGERS with strong contributions from Stormin Norman and Weyling White, as well as their usual scoring duo.
Game 3 gave us what could be a possible late round playoff showdown between the HUSKIES and WILDCATS. The Genz-less HUSKIES, led by some heavy 3 point shooting from Reco "pull it from anywhere" Miller, and Shaun "Lefty" Easter, both who scored in double digits, kept it close for most of the game, but fell short in the end to the WILDCATS led by the often unmarked Wes "Yellow" Ledbetter with a team high 20. Marvin "Lockdown" Locke and Jerry "Richi Rich" also scored in double digits for the WILDCATS who eventually pulled away and won by 12. The rematch of these 2 teams will undoubtedly by the game to watch in week 7. (Other than the return of BOBCATS star Coach Durst who will single handily shut down all of the TIGERS scorers)
The Matinee match showed that Coach Jones still had it in him as his lone 3 pointer and 3 blocks along with some sweet shooting from Scottie "2hottie" Morgan which kept the EAGLES close in the first half , but in the end, were no match for the over coached BUCKEYES led by 16 pts from Mike "smooth as glass" Glazier and 12 pts from Dave "Grunt work" Guffey.

TNT Week 1 wrap up
Week 1, and a long Labor Day weekend, are in the books, and for some teams, well, I bet they wish they had a longer Labor Day to get over some of the pain. The pain of a tough first game.
In game 1, The HUSKIES showed that they could share the scoring load with 3 players in double digits in a close but not so close game against the HEELS. She' "lightning bolt" Richmond led a strong effort for the HEELS with 12, but fell short 7 in the end. After the game, Coach Genz said "his team found success by keeping the ball out of his hands."
In game 2, B Jones' EAGLES, led my Ealey "Mad Man" Mungo's 18 pts, were no match for the 44 pts, including a league record 12 3's, dropped in by the TIGERS' Desmond "the Drain" Gaines. To add insult to injury, The TIGERS proved they just might be the team to beat with 18 more from Andy "the German Nightmare" Laible.
Game 3 left alot to be desired, from the BULLS that is. The BULLS kept it close, but in the end, they were no match for Wiley's Wildcats led by Jade "all I shoot is lay ups" Templeton, and Tyler "MVP" Bathrick.
In the redeye match, The BOBCATS looked to run on the much bigger BUCKEYES, with 9 from both Dusty "D-Money" Thompson and Keith "Lights Out" Lewis, but in the end, were no match for coach Moll's work horses. Brad "Big Man" Lessmeister and Darrell "Bangin down Lo" Bagwell both scored in double digits to lead the BUX over the BOBCATS in a game that was controlled on the boards.
Some teams have some work to do. Others, I'm sure, enjoyed a relaxing 3 day weekend.
