In the first semifinal game, the TIGERS came out firing on the HUSKIES. The HUSKIES showed they weren't going to just sit there as they looked to counter punch anything the TIGERS threw at them. The TIGERS showed quickly their strategy as Weyling "wow he did that" White looked to do it all early. His partner in crime, Stormin Norman also came out firing, showing off for the family in the stands, dropping in 18 on the night. The first few minutes were close, but as HUSKIES coach Gens could not find the range, the TIGERS quickly turned the boards into transition baskets. With a 17 point half time deficit, Unofficial coach Reco Miller attempted to bring order to the HUSKIES bench, but it would soon prove to be too little too late. Sean "lefty" Easter led the last ditch effort for the HUSKIES with 17, but scoring phenom Dez Gaines coming off the bench for the TIGERS, dropping in 16, helped put the nail in the coffin as the TIGERS punched their ticket to Thursday night. Tigers by 18. Nice Job both teams, on a tough season.
Game 2 almost gave us the rags to riches story of the year. Yes, my BOBCATS lost, but we showed that last week was no fluke, going toe to toe with the HEELS. The HEELS steadily held a lead throughout most of the game, as neither the the 3's or the free throws would fall for the BOBCATS. B-Mac led the way for the HEELS with 25 on the night, as no BOBCATS player could stop him. The HEELS, with no subs attempted to slow the game all night, as expected, but it only took a matter of time for BOBCATS guard D-Money Thompson to run the ball, and penetrate their zone, leaving his team-mates open for layups. Too bad some of them JUST WOULDN'T FALL. Down 5 at the half, the BOBCATS looked to keep the running up, but a missed 4 on 2 lay-up ended up being a 6 point swing in favor of the HEELS. The BOBCATS again showed their resilience, shaving off those 6pts to bring it within one point. After Jarred, "I can dunk but can't make a free throw" Weeks missed the what would have put the HEELS up by 3 free throw, the BOBCATS had one last shot. Mastermind Coach Durst drew up the same game winning play he used last week against the WILDCATS, but the HEELS had other plans. Actually, they just had fouls to give. Every time a B-Cat would get close to the basket, the hacks came, the shoves came, it was an all out embarrassing display of obvious flagrant intentional fouls to milk the clock (NO, I'm not bitter at all!) With under 5 seconds left, a desperation back door cut attempt to avoid the foul failed, turning the ball over. The HEELS showed that they can play with only 5 players, as long as Coach K is there to run the show. Congrats (I guess) on the win HEELS.
Championship game is Thursday @ 8pm. Come out and support what should be a good game.
