Please excuse the shortness of this weeks blog. I am busy getting my costume ready for trick or treatin'
The BOBCATS gave the TIGERS all they could handle in game 1. Not really. The TIGERS looked to be in Playoff form, getting ready for a seaon finale showdown with the BUX, to secure the number 1 seed. The highlight of the night, unfortunately, came when teammates went for the same ball, leaving "The German Nightmare's" elbow cut due to Stormin Norman hitting him in the arm with his head. NOT a good idea. The move also left Norman walking off with a cut eye. Team physicians are reporting that all MRI's are negative, and that a few days on IR should have W.N. back in time for the TIGERS to make that championship run. TIGERS by 22.
With the EAGLES fueling momentum off that defeat of the TIGERS last week, they looked to continue their run through the second half of the EASTERN conference, taking on the MIGHTY BUX. The Glazier-less BUX did all they could to fend off the smart play of the EAGLES, taking advantage of the EAGLES not having their big man. Darrell Bagwell had 15, including one 3, to lead the BUX, who dropped in a last second bucket to take a one point lead with 6 seconds left. A desperation push was made, but a long 3 came up short for the EAGLES, leaving coach Jones' pride battered and bruised due to the loss from his friendly foe coach Moll. Lookout for the EAGLES to make a run in the playoffs, post their inevitable loss to the BOBCATS (they can't finish win-less), with a possible second round matchup slated against what could be the TIGERS or BUX again.
The HUSKIES did all they could to hang with the WILDCATS, but too many absences on the HUSKIES bench, left them sucking wind, as the CATS ran the ball all night. Jade "lay-ups" Templeton took up the slack for Kobe Ledbetter (who could not find the range in the first half), dropping in 19 for the game which co-led the game in scoring along with team mate J Richie Rich. In the end, interim coach RECO, (I spelled in right!) did all he could with 5 3-pointers, but it wasn't enough. WILDCATS by 11
The Matinee match gave us another upset (but some predicted it) as the BULLS played some of their best ball all year, taking down the again sub-less HEELS. The late arrival of HEELS star Lightning Bolt Richmond gave the guys in blue momentary hope, but with no subs, and some great calls by the guys in stripes, 44 minutes was too much. HEELS big man Jarred Weeks showed he could do more than dunk, dropping in 2 3's to help lead his team with 12, but 16 from both J.P, and Joe "the Shooter" Sprouse led the BULLS. The HEELS kept it close for much of the game, but eventually lost wind, and lost by 9.
